My newest addtion Link! A male English Mastiff 9 weeks old!

As if I did no have enough to take care of I got a new English Mastiff puppy. We named him Link because my 4yr old is obsessed with Legends of Zelda on the Wii. I am going through a rough patch in my life with my 9yr old son. He has adhd and is for the first time in his life while trying to find right medication or help staying with his Dad. I feel lost and sad and overwhelmed. Link helps me fill the void some. And its entertaining. We own a 4 yr old female Mastiff. Mastiffs are the most amazing dogs. Here is some pictures.

Broken Ankle

I broke my ankle falling on ice. Of course this was during my new years resolution of working out. I chipped a bone in the back. I am in a huge walking boot with crutches chasing 4 kids and 2 large dogs all day. Maybe this is my new workout! I can tell you I do feel defeated. I am in pain and no longer can go go go. I am not one to sit. Not just because I have no choice not to with my busy lifestyle but just I am not a sitter. I am only taking pain pill in 4ths since I am with kids and don't what to take full ones. I really want a beer today. Terrible I know but I feel super overwhelmed. They want to do MRI later this week. We live on one income so pretty sure I will cancel it. I hope pain improves though! My oldest is home today for MLK day thank God. She is helping out some with younger ones. I guess I am forced to slow down, clean less and play on the floor more. Weird these actually are things I struggle with. Guess there is a plan for everything. I don't know if I should do the MRI and spend money we don't have if the outcome is the same treatment. That is my hurdle. So blog world if you know about this issue holler at me! Also looking for great ideas for stuff to do that involves sitting lol!!!!

New Year New Goals

My husband and I are starting 2010 with major changes! We are starting a new life long plan of healthy eating and exercising. We are doing this as a team and with the help of a wonderful free site called http://www.sparkpeople.com/ . This site helps track all your food, water, nutrition and much much more. We love using this tool for the meal planing and grocery shopping. It really helps to track your calorie intake. We also now have a weight machine and will be doing power 90. I am personally working on yoga and stationary bike as well. I really want to tone my body and hope to achive that with the weights. Its a lofty goal when you have 4 kids! We have a very hectic schedule. But its what will be best for us and a great example for our children. If you decide to join us on Sparkpeople leave me a comment on here so I can look you up! Today I have done yoga, 15 mins on the bike, and 25 of all sets on our weight machine. Except butterflies wow those hurt! I have only ate 400 total calories today. On my 3rd 8oz glass of water. After having 4 kids my bladder is already shot! So I am now peeing every 4 mins vs every 10 lol!

Promoting Your Etsy Shop!

Here are some ideas on promoting your shop.

Join a team.
Etsy Kids
Cafemom Etsy
or any of the street teams on etsy. Here is a link to the teams http://team.etsy.com/join.html

Join social networks such as:
We love Etsy
Cafemom
Moms Groups
Facebook

Make a Fanpage like the one you are currently viewing.

Do blogs and giveaways and product reviews! This creates a lot of buzz and can gain you a great increase in sales.

Remember the rules of business everyone is a potential customer.
Don't be shy. Give a business card to everyone you run into.
If you make something wearable wear it yourself! You are a walking promotional billboard or can be. My children wear my products all the time.
Its the best advertising you can do. I also am a cosmetologist and in order to gain clients I have to look the part all the time. It really works.

Always confirm an order! Thank the customer and give them information on when it is coming to them. Even if its just general. With Etsy especially it can be very annoying not knowing if your sale has been recognized with a seller. Sometimes it can feel like you don't know if or when they will check on their shop. I always send a confirmation thank you and status. That is just good business and customer service is very important in all business.

Renew your items often. One during the day one during the evening. You have different crowds during different times looking on Etsy. If you only list during your free time in the day or at night and are not seeing sales. Its time to change it up!

Make sure your pictures are clear and bright! I have seen so many shops that have good items if I strain my eyes looking at it! Use editing sites such as:
Picnik
Picasa
BeFunky
Loonapix
Dumpr
Here is a link to 28 different sites and their uses, http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/services/28-online-photo-editing-websites-to-have-fun-with/

Its a big job and takes daily work but they pay off in the end could be well worth it. Like anything in business it is what you put into it.

Best of Luck,
Kim

Gmail Moms Personal Assistant!

Every mother at one point in time in her life thinks I need an assistant,a scheduler, receptionist, and of course maid! I have found something close and I would not be surprised if they found a way to clean my house next!

Gmail this email can do it all. It has an online calendar that is my life, with daily reminders and pop out options. It also has chat through gmail that your work cant see! It goes only through your email so its private. My hubby has gmail and so do I. We stay in contact all day. So if you or your spouse are blocked from downloading a chat format at work but can check your email well use gmail and you wont have to download anything at work. I could go on and on about gmail. That is a blog in itself. There are gmail documents to use already formatted for anything from letters to school to business proposals. There is now Google Voice. This is amazing stuff. It is a call forwarding system through your email. You can reroute anyone to your recorded voice mail box individualized by each number. I have one number now that I use for all emergency's and it automatically forwards to my cell, home and any other number I program it to. And to top that it also records the message. Both the speakers actual voice and the written message in my email!!!! Yes crazy I know! Plus it can call all long distance numbers for free through my email. Oh and if I don't want say that telemarketer to bother me I can pick up the phone here them talking and CHOOSE to listen without them knowing then send them to whatever voice mail I want. Maybe even one I have made up that tells them to take a leap.

It has options for labels so that I can store every possible thing from my kids sports to my online customers emails. I can quick find any email I need about my childrens events or whatnot. The following is a list of just a few more of the amazing features of gmail:

1.YouTube previews in mail
by Stanley C and Braden K

Shows a video preview whenever you receive a YouTube link in an email. You can watch the video right inline!

2. Picasa previews in mail
by Dan, Stanley, Mark & Umesh

Shows photos previews whenever you receive a Picasa link in an email.

3. Flickr previews in mail
by Dan P

Shows photos previews whenever you receive a Flickr link in an email.

4.Google Voice player in mail
by Robert D

Lets you play voicemails left on your Google Voice account right from the email notification. This feature is so cool!

5.Google Voice player in mail
by Robert D

Lets you play voicemails left on your Google Voice account right from the email notification. Another purely amazing treat! And if your divorced no more he said she said its all right there! Invaluable.

6.Signature tweaks
by Keith C and Dave C

Places your signature before the quoted text in a reply, and removes the "--" line that appears before signatures.

&.Forgotten Attachment Detector
by Jonathan K

Prevents you from accidentally sending messages without the relevant attachments. Prompts you if you mention attaching a file, but forgot to do so.

Ok so there are so many more features of gmail that this blog entry could get a little boring to read! By now I think you get the drift! Its a must for everyone especially busy CEO moms like myself. Plus staying connected to your husband all day is valuable when your running around with a large family like passing ships!
